Show empty rows consistently across roadmap views

What is the challenge?

  • In Aha! Roadmaps, Custom roadmaps hide completely empty outer groups, but show empty subgroups when their outer group contains at least one row.

  • For example: When grouping by Objective > Initiative, a Custom roadmap will show Initiatives without child records. Removing the outer Objective grouping will hide those Initiatives.

  • Switching the same Custom roadmap to a list or pivot report makes the missing rows reappear.

What is the impact?

  • Customers cannot easily tell whether records are missing because of filters, grouping order, or the selected report view.

  • Product managers must change views to verify completeness, reducing confidence in roadmaps shared with stakeholders.

Describe your idea.

  • Show empty groups consistently, regardless of grouping order.

  • Preserve the same eligible records when switching between custom roadmap, list, and pivot views with unchanged filters.

  • Let users explicitly choose whether to hide empty groups, with that choice applied consistently across grouping levels.
