I am using Notes to create and manage hardware PRDs. The hardware PRD is made of three sections - 1) an executive summary and revision tracking section, 2) hardware requirements, and 3) software requirements. Using a hardware requirements view allows me to use releases/features/requirements to leverage hardware requirements across multiple products, and the software requirements view allows me to use software releases/features/requirements that can also be shared across multiple products.
As the Notes currently work, adding Views and being able to live update requirements and features and details is great for a PRD when it is in draft. However, to get exec approval on a new product, I have to lock all aspects of the PRD in order to get an accurate ROI, which comes from engineering locking to a specific hardware spec and software spec. In order for me to manage my teams, I must have a way to lock the PRD to specific versions to accurately track when a change was made that affects a product's scope, delivery timeline, quality, etc. This means the PRD Note must be completely static, including the data that is within a View in that PRD Note.
To summarize, I need a way to make a Note completely static (including the data within a View) after the Views have been added to the PRD Note.
(Note 1: I must be able to export this static view into a professional, print ready PDF, and the dev team must still be able to click into requirements/features in a view to add comments, so adding an image to the Note is not feasible.)
(Note 2: Today, there is a 'lock editing' feature in the Note, but that does not lock the data within the Views. That leaves room for the 'locked' PRD to have content change over time so there is no direct traceability within the Note.)
I am not able to use Aha for hardware PRDs as I am unable to meet my business' needs using this tool. Confluence has great revision tracking and history view, but lacks the ability to share requirements between different PRDs. I am hoping Aha can address this gap by supporting a way to 1) click into features/requirements, AND 2) have the option to lock the View content showed within a particular Note.
1) Add a checkbox in the add view wizard to lock the view content when adding to a Note (see attachment: 'Add view - Lock content checkbox').
2) Add an option in the view configuration menu to lock the View content within the Note (see attachment: 'Configure view - Lock content checkbox')
