Consider all cell fields when listing unique records

What is the challenge?

Data and configuration:

  • Custom table for tracking release waves

  • Table is associated with releases through a one-to-many custom field

  • Some waves will be released multiple times, so the "Wave name" will be repeated

  • Different waves can be released on the same day, so the "Wave date" will be repeated

Pivot table configuration:

  • Rows: Release name

  • Cells: "Wave name" and "Wave date"

  • "Within cells list as": list unique records

  • Note: cell headers must be visible

Since wave names and dates can appear multiple times, they are de-duplicated in the pivot cells.

Problem: the report only considers the cell when listing unique values. It does not consider each unique combination of cell fields

What is the impact?

Names and dates become misaligned in the report

Describe your idea

Have a setting that allows the user to list unique values based on the combination of cell fields

This would be beneficial. We see this with Objectives and Key Results. To ensure no duplication, we sometimes ask to pick only one, when the work actually applies to many.
