Ability to Hide Empty Fields on Idea Portal Layout

What is the challenge?

You cannot hide empty fields in the Idea portal layout, however you can do so in other object layouts.

What is the impact?

We’d like to use custom fields to represent sub-categories within the idea layout. To do this, we’d create a set of sub-categories that map to each primary category. Then, we’d use the STEP functionality to display the appropriate sub-category field only when its corresponding primary category is selected.

Our goal is to display the selected sub-category on the idea layout so users can see what they chose. However, with the current setup, we’d need to include all possible sub-category fields on the layout. This results in most of them appearing blank, which clutters the view and may be confusing to users.
