Ability to sort custom table based on the first/last column in Aha!

What is the challenge?

Currently, custom tables in Aha! do not provide a way to sort rows based on specific columns, such as the first column. This limitation makes it difficult to manage and organize data, especially when a feature has a large number of related events (e.g., more than 10). Events are added to the custom table in the order of their creation date rather than the actual date in the column, but this default arrangement does not always align with the user's needs for reviewing or prioritizing data effectively.

What is the impact?

The inability to sort rows within the custom table view creates inefficiencies for users who rely on these tables to track and analyze feature-related data. For example:

  • Difficulty in navigating large datasets: When there are many events associated with a feature, locating specific rows becomes time-consuming and error-prone without sorting functionality.

  • Reduced productivity: Users may spend unnecessary time manually scanning through rows rather than focusing on actionable insights.

  • Limited data management: Without the ability to sort, users cannot easily prioritize or group data based on importance or relevance, which impacts decision-making.

Describe your idea

I propose adding a sorting functionality to custom tables in Aha! that allows users to sort rows based on a specific column (e.g., the first column or other selected columns). This feature would enable users to reorganize rows directly within the custom table view, making it easier to manage large datasets without relying on external reports like list views.

The sorting functionality should be intuitive and customizable, allowing users to:

  • Choose a column to sort by (e.g., first column, last column, or any column).

  • Specify the sort order (ascending or descending).

  • Apply sorting directly within the custom table interface without exporting data or switching to a different report type.
