Manage ROI using scorecards

What is the challenge?

Product teams find it challenging to measure return on investment (ROI) throughout the product lifecycle. Although prioritizing based on projected value is straightforward, comparing planned value against actual business outcomes proves difficult — which reduces confidence in future investment decisions.

What is the impact?

Enables data-driven decision-making by helping teams track ROI from idea to delivery. Improves transparency, aligns investments with outcomes, and helps product leaders optimize funding based on real-world results.

Describe your idea

Enhance the Product Value Score (PVS) in Aha! Roadmaps to support ROI tracking across three critical stages of the product lifecycle:

  1. Initial ROI – Early-stage estimate based on strategic assumptions.

  2. Projected ROI – Refined estimate based on scoped work and capacity.

  3. Actual ROI – Measured value after delivery and adoption.

Each score would be configurable with its own metric and formula. The appropriate score would display based on the record’s status (e.g., show “Initial ROI” when the record is in planning, “Projected ROI” when in progress, and “Actual ROI” after shipping).

This approach would allow teams to:

  • Track and report on value planned, value delivered, and value realized — all in one place.

  • Analyze investment effectiveness across time and across products.

  • Make smarter prioritization decisions by learning from what worked and what didn’t.

By extending the Product Value Score in this way, Aha! Roadmaps can become a complete system of record for strategic product ROI.
